Third Rate Football?Football fans from all over the country support their favourite teams, but recently the focus on the sport has switched to the high leagues. "Third Rate Football?" argues that grassroots football and lower leagues, such as Nationwide Divisions 2, 3 and the Football Conference have the same excitement if not more at their matches, and that money and skill does not equate to a good football game. Do you find that lower league, grassroots football is the heart and soul of the FA, and that the games played in these leagues are of the same quality, if not better, than their higher division partners?Make reference to your own stance on the sport, including where your own interests and support stand.

Having played for School, College, Town and several sunday leageue clubs i like to think i know a bit about football and i have to say that the best football one could possibly ever to hope to see is that played on a sunday morning down your local rec. (not the sunday afternoon stuff though - everyones just rolled out the pub and onto the pitch), especially amongst the better leagues, its real football, warts and all (not to mention some fantastic examples of how to tackle with two feet) and beats the crap out of paying the best part of a tenner to go see a load of over-payed, long haired wimps play the long ball for 90 minutes (*cough* Pools *cough*)

I know diddly about football, but think the number or players bought from overseas clubs is ridiculous, as is supporting a team because they're doing well *cough*anyone supporting man you *cough* I don't think I've ever even seen a Man United supporter in Manchester - the only footy shirts I've seen are City + other random clubs I've never heard of.
Watching Pools can be a larf, unless you're "propositioned" by PieMan, Shoulder Guy or Shoulder Guy's Mate.
"Seeeeeeagulllllll!"

Man United aren't that bad really anymore, they got a some good english youth coming through the ranks and they did develop Beckham, Scholes, the Nevilles, Giggs, etc. The bad oens here are teams like Chelsea, Arsenal aka France v2.0 and Liverpool.

Heehee. Aren't they playing Middlesbrough soon, or was that ages ago and I've only just caught up? Yes. They've played them 3 times with a fourth to come along in the next few days. Aren't you well informed?

I thought the African footbal was good when it was on - seemethey seemed like they were playing for the love of the game and a good footy match, rather than to pay for haircare products.

Probably.
If so, he's not disguised very well. Unshaven, yet wears a blouse, skirt, handbag and women's shoes.
Tasty.

I protested at the abuse of the fat goalie! i STOOD UP for him!! Heehee. Ruth, don't forget Pie Man's Sidekick quip, or Shoulder Guy (mm, delish.. - ask Clo on monday). I think i'd much rather go to a smaller game like Pools than a Premiership game. Even though the atmosphere in a stadium filled with thousands and thousands of people must be good, it would all be a bit anonymous. Plus, creepy slimy fat guys wouldn't chat you up.
