A topic I am happy to say I agree wholeheartedly on.
I totally agree. Occasionally, in certain games and with certain people, tempers can get frayed, but Halo has been and always will be the perfect example of human bonding, as are many other multiplayer games, such as
GoldenEye (possibly my favourite multiplayer of all time) TimeSplitters 2 Super Smash Brothers Melee Wip3out: Special Edition (w/ brothers) FIFA 2004 Mario Kart: Double Dash Perfect Dark (sadly only a brief embrace)
Well done Jon, you struck a chord with my views on the topic - gaming should be respected!

I agree with the point that it has more interaction than sat stagnating on the couch watching mindless television but i feel both gaming and tv should be taken in moderation with other things as well, just to provide diversity. Apart from that well written and well balanced

i always wanted to get tonnes of sonic and kunckles carts, plug them into each other and see what happens , the game does as you say rock but nothing can touch the almighty Streets of Rage 2 or Gunstar Heroes on Megadrive, even for a self confessed sonic nut like myself !!

I suppose all these game-to-movie and Simpsons-to-awful conversions will only increase games' acceptance.

these games are thought more often than not pathetic rip offs of great franchises that never caught the public eye: Simpsons Road Rage IS Crazy Taxi with the sega sprites ripped out and the simpsons thrown in, unfortunately crazy taxi is fun and simpsons road rage is likely pulling your pubes out one by one (i.e painful), indeed it is such a rip off Sega are currently sueing EA Enter the matrix is the most god awful movie tie in ever, they couldnt be bothered to code circular wheels so they coded them square and made them spin fast enuff to resmeble a circle, but if you pause the game you see the truth, enter the matrix could have been a great game in the right programmers hands but unfortunately we got a mess, my article about the stupidity of the minastream games buying public will be made at some point and i'll go into more depth then

How about just the general stupidity of the general public... in relation to everything?

How about just the general stupidity of the general public... in relation to everything? If we all worked together, we'd still be stuck writing for the rest of eternity. And a half.

Im not sure which country your all from but in my school I just said "fuck it I like games and so be it, judge as you will its not gonna stop me" and guess what a year and a half later and I've got half my school talking about this "geek" hobbie, cause tho many people would completely deny the fact that they play games, or enjoy it, only the very occassional few have actually never enjoyed playing a consol or computer game, maybe this is because games are made to be entertaining Now I live in the UK, but have lived in the USA and they still seem to be very much more segregating when it comes to gamers etc. I remember abuse from almost everyone in my grade about "ooo your a total geek, etc. etc.", but of course since then I've decided to take a slightly more confident approach to what I enjoy and find entertaining and its gone a long way. But anywayz Im waffling on about me so yeh Id mainly just like to say how although I totally agree with your atricle in many ways, luckily Im finding people are FINALLY understanding the fact that gaming is acceptable and not such a bad thing to talk about. I mean how many teens do you know that dont use something like MSN, Yahoo, AOL/AIM, ICQ or other instant messenging software...? This is the first step. With MSN and Yahoo having games now you can play with your friends already we're hitting that point where its the 'norm' to be a "geek" I believe we're finally hitting the revolution And thats it from me, a load of banter but I had to say something KC

I recently bought a few MegaDrive games from Belly. They're all quite simple compared to newer games, including old consoles like the PlayStation. The thing is, even the lame ones are still enjoyable, whereas a lame PlayStation game is just lame.
