Just a quick poll to see which browsers most people use to access The Twaddle. (It's in Pagiarism cos it's web-related.)

Opera used to be good back in the day but is getting a tas senile in its old age --Jakk I like MyIE2 rather more than I did, as it now includes the option to use Gecko (in the latest betas). That's still not saying much. Opera: either tolerate the Mega-Ad or pay them - sod off!

I dare say spybot or Outpost coudl probably kill off the ad's, but as well as that im hearing a lot of bad things about the compatibility and coding standards of Opera these days In addition to MyIE2 there is avant browser, but im none too keen on that either. Also, anyone still using IE should definitley take a lookit the Google Toolbar free download for its pop-up killign capabilities, at least until XP SP2 leaves Beta stage, as that will include pop-up killing measures. As for us Mozilla users, pop-ups?, what pop-ups? --Jakk

I'm sure they've only made the toolbar so large to acommodate it. Of course, popups are irrelevant when using Firebird... except that the little blue "i" icon can be slightly annoying... ;D Anyone still using IE should wait until Monday, then get Mozilla Firebird 0.8 (which will be released... on Monday... but you guessed that.)

By Mega-Ad I don't mean popups - I mean a large, moving advert built into the browser's toolbar. I'm sure they've only made the toolbar so large to acommodate it. ...i know, spybot can make changes to both the host file and registry/code skeys for individual programs to prevent them phoning home to the ad sites, replacing them with the plain ol word "AD". Similarly outpost has built in capabilities to lock out the most common ad-hosting domains. In addition, anyone suffering from pop-up or spyware related problems shoudl have a lookit an article i wrote a while ago: www.sysopt.com/articles/PCHousekeeping/index2.htmlwww.sysopt.com/articles/PCHousekeeping/index4.htmlAnd if running XP/2K and not running a network at home (or even if you are running a network at home but arent using NETSEND), disable the 'Messenger' (no, it wont affect MSN Messenger, you sad little kiddies) service from Administrative Tools (found inside the Control Panel of all users with Admin priveledges --Jakk
