Virgin Radio - home of popular music as well as different shows dedicated to up-and-coming artists, songs from popular bands and, in general, popular music with all the shit chucked out.
Classic FM - fantastic to have on during homework and that... not too distracting, beautiful music, and (my favourite) a predominance of piano/strings music.
talkSPORT - the place to find the best radio talkshows between 10 and 1am; The James Whale Show on Mondays to Thursdays provides hardcore debate and great guests; while Ian Collins Unbranded gives you entertainment on the weekend slot (Friday to Sunday) and, just starting now (at 10pm-1am, Sunday night), "13 Questions" - fantastic human interaction wherein Collins asks 13 interesting questions and people ring in and reel off brilliant anecdotes. Both of these presenters are really funny, as are Mike Parry and Alan Brazil every morning on the Sports Breakfast, 6-10am. Worth a check, methinks.
BBC 7 - comedy from the BBC. I urge you to listen to a certain programme on Monday night, 11pm-12am, called Spanking New; it's a Comedy Store stand-up show from Manchester and it's hilarious; first show on BBC radio with copious swearing and stuff that's actually funny combined. Otherwise, it's alright, but there's gems here and there particularly in old comedy shows like Dad's Army and Whatever Happened To The Likely Lads? that are on regularly. John Shuttleworth also makes the odd appearance
Have a listen to them; I'm sure the latter two in particular might attract surprise listeners.
